Saner content consumption patterns

I realized that whenever I “force” myself to bring any content I am consuming to its natural end, be it the last second of a song or a video, the last word in an article or a paper, I feel an increase in comprehension and enjoyment than if I stopped reading or listening early, even if it’s only mildly interesting.
I would say the negative effect of stopping mid-content is increased if one instantly skips to a new piece of media.
For bigger endeavors e.g. books it may be good idea to quit early if one notices that the time spent is not worth the investment.
